Wrote this at age 20 or so, I think. For reasons I've completely forgotten, this was done in the style of English novelist and poet Thomas Hardy. How weird is that. In any case, this is such a thinly-veiled account of an event in my family history that I'm stunned I let my parents read it. I don't recall them ever sharing any reaction to this with me, though.
